The craft
The case and bezel are set with 526 moissanite stones, 4.64 carats in all by the maker’s specification, leaving the dial clear: Roman numerals, blue hands and a date window, on a choice of colored dials with matching or black leather straps. A blue cabochon sits in the crown. Beneath the sapphire crystal runs the Miyota 8215, a Japanese automatic calibre, in a stainless-steel case 40 mm across, 47.8 mm lug to lug and 11 mm thick.
On the wrist
This is the restrained way to wear gem-set: a colored dial on leather, with the light kept to the frame. It belongs at the office as easily as at dinner, and it suits a man’s or a woman’s wrist equally.

Questions, answered
Are the stones diamonds?
No. They are moissanite, 526 stones, 4.64 carats in all by the maker's specification: a lab-grown gemstone harder than sapphire, with more fire than diamond. We never describe it as diamond.
Does it need a battery?
No. The Miyota 8215 is an automatic calibre: it winds itself as you wear it, and a few turns of the crown will start it if it has stopped. Its maker quotes a power reserve of more than 40 hours.
Is it a men's or a women's watch?
Both. At 40 mm wide and 47.8 mm lug to lug it sits well on most wrists from about 15.5 to 19 cm (6.1 to 7.5 in).
Can I swim with it?
No. It is rated 5 ATM, which covers splashes and hand-washing. Take it off before swimming or showering. The leather strap should also be kept dry.
